FABRICS
Our GOTS certified Organic Silk

We have chosen to use the highest quality sustainable and GOTS Certified Organic Silk from Como, Italy. Our biodegradable, eco-friendly and organic Mulberry silk yarn is 100% cruelty free and CO2 neutral. It is ethically and responsibly produced with zero pesticides and no chemical substances. Organic silk production requires low water and energy usage. It also generates low waste and what remains is repurposed and resold.

Why Gots Certified Organic Silk over traditional silk
Gots Certified Organic Silk is the earth-conscious option to traditional silk.

Gots organic silk, as opposed to traditional silk, is obtained in a humane fashion allowing the silkworm to fully develop and continue its life after leaving the cocoon behind. It is in line with respecting the environment, non-violence towards animals and all in all, a sustainable practice. The silkworms are fed organic Mulberry leaves, grown biodynamically without any type of contamination. This ensures our silk is free of pesticides or artificial fertilizers.  As opposed to traditional silk, our GOTS certified organic silk is also free of heavy metals and chemical substances that come into contact with our skin through the clothes we wear. Since our skin absorbs up to 65% of any substance it’s in contact with, it was crucial for us to work with only natural and certified organic fabrics, like the GOTS silk, which respects and takes care of your skin just like a caress.

Gots organic silk fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and this can fully revert back to nature without affecting it in a negative way.

Why we use only sustainable GOTS Certified Organic silk
Our organic silk is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard - GOTS - signifying that it is produced using environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing.

GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard - is recognized as the world's leading processing standard for sustainable production of textiles made from natural fibers from organic farming. It guarantees that the entire textile supply chain has met the environmental and socially responsible requirements, without using fertilizers, pesticides and, harmful chemicals from the cultivation of silkworms, to the production (weaving, dyeing, printing, finishing and labelling) of the fabric in ethical work conditions.

The Benefits
Silk is natural, light, and resistant making it the finest of fibers so you can wear it for years. It is rich with essential amino acids and natural proteins allowing our skin and the material to breathe in complete harmony. Different to cotton, it thermoregulates our body temperature with sericin that naturally absorbs excess humidity, leaving behind the natural oils of our skin. It’s also hypoallergenic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

COLOR AND DYE
A unique color palette exclusively for HERTH

One our main features is our colours palette. Orchid, Tea, Desert... each color is unique selected after a long research run to obtain that exact color shade painted by our imagination and produced exclusively for HERTH.
Our dyeing process is completely biological and biodegradable, non-toxic, non-allergenic and skin friendly with a low impact on the environment and all our fabrics are digitally printed consuming less energy, lower water consumption and fewer CO2 emissions. Both the dyeing and printing process are GOTS certified and sustainable without heavy metals, chemical substances, pesticides and artificial fertilizers. Since our skin absorbs up to 65% of any substance it’s in contact with (harmful or not), it’s of dire importance to know what we wear.
